Review of the guest friendly Hotel Florencia Plaza in Medellin
The Hotel Florencia Plaza is a four star guest friendly hotel in Medellin, Colombia. The hotel is located on Carrera 41A only a few steps from Calle 10. Calle 10 runs through in the heart of the El Poblado district.
El Poblado is one of the more upscale parts of Medellin. It is home to countless bars, restaurants, cafes, night clubs and of course Parque Lleras. By day Parque Lleras is a quiet area but at night it comes alive with lots of revelers hanging around and having a good time. Parque Lleras has been called “the safest and most obvious choice for nightlife in Medellin”.
The front desk staff at Hotel Florencia Plaza speaks English and Spanish and they are courteous. During the check in process they offer drinks and snacks. The Florencia Plaza does require a rather large deposit equal to the first night’s rate plus tax.
The rooms at the Florencia Plaza are good enough. They have large beds, desks, closets and safes. The linens are good and clean and many rooms have views of some nice parts of the city and the mountains around it. WiFi is free and fast and the minibar is well stocked and not too expensive. The area around the hotel is relatively safe and security at the hotel is good. At night people have to be buzzed in to enter.
The Hotel Florencia Plaza is girl friendly but they do have a joiner fee. Any customer that brings guests back to their rooms is subject to a fee of 80,000 COP ($28 USD) per person which isn’t cheap. In addition, guests have to show their identification card to enter the hotel.
Rooms at the Hotel Florencia Plaza aren’t necessarily cheap but it is probably the least expensive hotel in the immediate area that has a high star rating and consistently receives high marks from customers. The best way to get a good rate is to book a stay online before arriving.
poor advice for seasoned mongerers !
you don’t sound very experienced to me…….
I don’t get your meaning. I’m not giving any advice in this post. It is a review of a hotel. Cheers.
Any advice on where to hang out in the Poblado area where I can find a guest to bring back to this hotel???
This is just a hotel review site. Cheers.
if they charge $28 for a guest, thats not very friendly!
Thanks for your comment. I guess it would depend on your definition of friendly. As I have explained before on this site, guest friendly in the way I use it means that a hotel allows customers to bring guest back to their rooms. A hotel that is not guest friendly doesn’t allows people not registered to the room to enter. Similarly a bar may allow customers to bring in their own bottles but charge a cork fee. I would describe such a bar as friendly to those who want to bring their own bottles even though their is a surcharge. I do always state whether or not there is a guest charge in my reviews of guest friendly hotels. Cheers.
No of any hotels in medillan that are guest friendly and don’t charge a joiner fee
A lot of hotels charge a joiner fee. Most people use love motels when they want to have a short time rendezvous. Cheers.
That is NOT necessary ,charging to bring a chica.WHY? We wanted to stay a month
I am not sure why hotels set joiner fees. If I had to guess I would say it is because they can. Cheers.
I stayed at Ibis Hotel the week of Christmas 2019. I had different women stop by that I met on social media. No fees were mentioned by the hotel. They just had to sign in.
Thanks for the update Kent. Cheers!
